Tae Kwon Do is the Korean Martial Art that literally means the way of kicking and punching. Tae Kwon Do is the most widely recognized martial art in the world and gained inclusion as an official event in the Olympics in the year 2000. While Tae Kwon Do does share some similarities with other martial arts, it can be immediately differentiated from other styles of martial arts because it relies predominantly on kicking techniques while utilizing a very mobile, upright fighting stance that allows for quick action and movement. It also uses quick hand strikes and blocks, and, combined with its mental disciplines, is a great system of self-defense and personal improvement. |
